Ryan started working on a new photography project, documenting the active, abandoned, and historical rail lines that were once used by the Southern Pacific Rail Lines and the former South Pacific Coast Railroad dated from the late 1880's to the early 1960's. These rail lines ran from Oakland down to Santa Cruz by means of trackage along the east bay shoreline, acorss beautiful trestles and bridges, and through now-abandoned tunnels buried deep inside the Santa Cruz mountains.

During this year, Ryan had also captured many historical and archetectural buildings from all over California and Washington states, which many have since then been demoloshed or repurposed.
